The word adagio is a musical word describing a tempo that moves "at ease", progressing forward with intention, a notch below a walking pace. It reflects our belief that people cannot be rushed through healing, growth, or change. We choose to move at the pace of trust, creating space for relationships to develop through consistent presence and deep relational care. Because when trust is given time to grow, lasting change becomes possible.

Mission Statement

Rooted in our faith in Christ, we work to prevent trafficking, provide places of holistic care for teenage survivors, and prepare them for life beyond our doors through accredited education, supportive relationships and life skills. We walk with survivors and their families through the ongoing work of healing–celebreating progress, learning from setbacks, and building hope for the future.

We envision a day when our work is no longer necessary because human trafficking no longer exists.

A day when every child is protected from exploitation, every community is equipped to recognize and respond to vulnerability, and every survivor is surrounded by the love, support, and opportunities needed to move forward.

Until that day, we will continue to invest in people, strengthen communities, and walk alongside those we serve—believing that lasting change happens when individuals are seen, supported, and never left to walk alone.

Our history

The History of Adagio

2011

Sarah’s Home began as a vision of the Rocky Mountain District Women’s Ministries, shaped by over twenty years of global mission work and a growing awareness of the need to support survivors of trafficking closer to home.

2013

Sarah’s Home opened its doors, beginning to serve teen survivors of sex trafficking.

2017

Sarah’s Home received a new license from the State to serve more girls and let them have the opportunity to stay for extended periods of time if needed.

2020

Daniel Academy’s initial conception and momentum.

2026

The new name Adagio launched and Sarah’s Home became a Residential Child Care Facility (RCCF) under the state of Colorado.

Adagio began with Sarah’s Home, which was built in order to meet an urgent need: a safe place in Colorado for teens to heal from trafficking. From there, the vision grew to an accredited on-site school that is designed for survivors, a prevention program in In Step, and now Daniel Academy in development to serve teen boys who are survivors of sex trafficking. What started as one safe home has grown into a continuum that meets young survivors where they are.

Today, Adagio’s program Sarah’s Home is the only licensed residential program in Colorado that is specifically for survivors of sex trafficking under eighteen. Our vision is a future where every young survivor has somewhere to turn.

Adagio is led by an engaged board of directors and an experienced leadership team whose backgrounds span trauma-informed care, education, and survivor advocacy. Together the organization is held to high standards of excellence, sound governance, and careful stewardship. As Sarah’s Home is a state-licensed residential provider, the program operates under rigorous external oversight and holds itself to an even higher one.

Our faith is the foundation of our care. Being Christ-centered means we lead with compassion, dignity, and hope and that every individual is welcomed and respected, whatever they believe.

We treat every gift as a trust. Careful stewardship is one of our deepest commitments, and we are transparent and accountable with every resource entrusted to us. Therefore, we hold ourselves to clear, visible standards. The large majority of every dollar goes directly to programs and care, and our IRS Form 990 is available to any donor who wants to see it.You deserve to know your gift is working, and we are glad to show you.
